Beam AI at the Advancing Preconstruction Conference 2024

The energy was electric at the Advancing Preconstruction Conference in Denver, Colorado, held from May 1st to 3rd, 2024. The three-day event served as a vibrant hub for preconstruction professionals of all levels. From insightful keynote speakers to technical workshops and interactive exhibits, the conference buzzed with the latest trends, innovations, and best practices in preconstruction and estimating.

Beam AI was a constant presence at the conference, with our team actively engaging with industry leaders to showcase how our AI takeoff software can transform their preconstruction process. It was a whirlwind of learning, connecting, and showcasing - and we thoroughly enjoyed our debut at the conference. Here's a look back at the Beam AI team's experience and the key takeaways that will propel us forward.

AI Takes Center Stage

One of the biggest themes buzzing around the conference was Artificial Intelligence (AI) in preconstruction. It's clear that AI is transforming the industry, and Beam AI is at the forefront of this movement. But what truly resonated was the emphasis on user-friendly automation tools that aim to empower preconstruction professionals, not replace them.

Moreover, several sessions, like "Track 2: Estimating Best Practices," delved into how AI can streamline workflows while maintaining human oversight. This aligns perfectly with Beam AI's mission to free up valuable time for estimators to focus on strategic tasks.

Beam AI Connects with Preconstruction Leaders

At booth #49, we had the pleasure of interacting with over 100+ attendees, from estimating professionals to directors of preconstruction. The excitement for AI in preconstruction was palpable. The  attendees were really impressed  with Beam AI's automated takeoff software and it’s focus on user experience and automation.

Takeoffs take up anywhere from 30-50% of the entire bid cycle so using AI to automate the monotonous quantity takeoffs puts back time on the calendars of the Estimators.

The atmosphere was one of collaboration and mutual learning. We shared the power of Beam AI's takeoff software, while attendees shared their pain points and challenges. In-depth demonstrations showcased how Beam AI can streamline the preconstruction process, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

"I've been in preconstruction for 9 years and I've never seen anything like this," one attendee remarked. Another stated, "This is the future! I send the plans to you and it's done. Everyone seemed excited about the advancements in preconstruction technology.

Learning from Industry Experts

Beyond the bustling activity at our booth, the conference offered a wealth of knowledge through workshops and keynote sessions. A highlight for the team was Paul Christen's keynote, "Winning Work: Uncovering Critical Techniques for Positioning Your Firm Competitively."  As Vice President of Preconstruction at TACK Builders, Christen's insights were particularly valuable, reminding everyone of the importance of standing out in a competitive marketplace.

Another session that sparked our interest was “Advancements in AI-Assisted Takeoff,” held on conference day one (May 2nd). The session explored how AI-assisted takeoff can be leveraged to train new estimators more efficiently. This aligns perfectly with Beam AI's belief that AI should empower professionals, not replace them. AI can free up experienced staff to focus on mentoring and strategic tasks.

These discussions were particularly insightful for the team, as they mirrored our own focus on innovation and collaboration. Overall, the conference offered a great opportunity to connect and learn from industry experts.

Beyond the Booth: Building Connections and Looking Forward

The conference wasn't all work and AI! We enjoyed delicious food, breathtaking Denver views, and the opportunity to network with industry peers. The connections made at Advancing Preconstruction will undoubtedly lead to future collaborations and a brighter future for preconstruction.

We feel encouraged by the positive response we received on our AI-takeoff software and the exciting future of preconstruction. The conference solidified our position at the forefront of preconstruction innovation. We're confident that our solutions will empower preconstruction professionals to work faster, and smarter, and collaborate more effectively.
